This chapter discusses the Enacting Heaven Temple, or the Hsing Tien Kung, which is known as a good place for shoujing, describes the ritual of shoujing, and identifies the signs of modernization and traditional Daoist teaching within the temple. It also discusses the founding of the Enacting Heaven Temple and Hsuan Kung's Confucianism and his organizational innovations, the latter leading to the foundation for a professionally organized outreach to the society in Taiwan. The chapter furthermore describes the Enacting Heaven Temple as a hybrid organization, one which uses Confucian principles that are embodied in the mythical virtues of Lord Guan and make up fundamentally different ethics and ways of life.
