This chapter focuses on the subset of Theo van den Hout's collection occurring in the corpus of festival texts CTH 591-722. Most of the texts only show one Luwian word. Two examples of this kind are discussed in the chapter, namely CTH 671 Sacrifice and Prayer to the Storm-god of and CTH 672 Monthly festival of Nerik. CTH 671 and CTH 672 belong to the festivals of the town of Nerik, an important Hattian-Anatolian cultic center for the Hittites from the Old Hittite period on. During the purulli -festival, the most important festival of the town, the gods, especially the Storm-god of Nerik, affirmed the Hittite king as ruler of the land, hence strengthening his legitimacy. On the whole, it is difficult to explain the frequent attestations of Luwian words in comparison to other festival texts. Keywords: CTH 671; CTH 672; Hittite texts; Luwian word; Nerik; purulli -festival; Theo van den Hout
