Alexandre Bennigsen, an emigrant from Russia, initiated the edition of documents from the Topkapi Palace Archives regarding the Crimean Khanate. This chapter presents Document 8 that provides a translation of the letter from the Tatar khan Mengli Giray to the lords of the Council and all the Ruthenian people concerning Kiev and other castles.
