The publication Sufism in Politics, Politics in Sufism. Turkey in the Years 1958-2001 concerns a complex phenomenon of the influence of Sufism on the modern politics, mentality and social life of the Turkish people, taking into account the influence of politics on this phenomenon. The modern Turkish politics depends on many factors – the influence of Muslim environments constitute one of them; the role of politicians from the Naqshbandi brotherhood is still very significant. This movement was favourable to assimilation of Islam with some elements of secularism, developed dynamic interactions in the society and generated new solutions. The Muslim folk religiousness, still insufficiently studied and combined with a specific traditional worldview, constitutes one of the most important variations of the Turkish political Islam.
